A Learning Web Community
Based on the story of "Journey to the West"
Introduction
"Gold Peach" is conceived as a learning web community platform, drawing inspiration from the classic Chinese narrative, "Journey to the West." This initiative aims to integrate cultural heritage with modern digital pedagogy to create an engaging and effective learning environment.
Specifications
The "Gold Peach" Web Community is dedicated to Parental-Child Web Education
and Digital Learning Activities. It establishes a comprehensive Learning Web
Community Platform by leveraging a Wiki-based solution and an immersive game
environment. The "Gold Peach Platform" integrates five core functionalities:
1.Web-Assisted Teaching and Online Examination:
Facilitating structured learning and assessment through digital tools.
2.Resource Navigation and Problem Solving: Guiding users to relevant
educational resources and supporting problem-solving skills.
3.Online Counseling and Collaborative Learning: Providing virtual support and
fostering peer-to-peer learning interactions.
4.Training for Seed
Teachers and Parents: Equipping educators and guardians with the necessary
skills for digital education.
5.Parental-Child Digital Learning
Theater: Organizing a substantial program for interactive digital learning
experiences for families.
"Gold Peach" offers an interdisciplinary interactive service encompassing a Web Community, a Learning Website, Multimedia Educational Games, a Curriculum Design Database, and Knowledge Management systems.

Visual Environment and User Interface
The visual and interactive design of "Gold Peach" is inspired by its namesake: a magical fruit from the garden of the Queen Mother of the West, a motif deeply embedded in Chinese ancient mythology. According to legend, consuming a Gold Peach confers immortality and bestows the extraordinary ability to traverse the world by riding clouds. This ancient Chinese narrative is seen to have metaphorically foreshadowed the boundless connectivity and exploratory potential of the World Wide Web.
Brief Research Report of Gold Peach
This ongoing
research series has focused on the development of an interactive platform for
web community learning tailored for children. A quasi-experimental design was
employed to analyze user learning behaviors. Initiated in 1996, the project has
evolved through five generations of web-human interaction and user interface
development and testing.
Our findings indicate that the "Web community
model" represents a superior design for web-based learning environments.
Furthermore, internet culture emerged as a critical factor for consideration,
particularly in the context of "software internationalization." While a
statistically significant difference in learning achievement between users and
non-users was not definitively established, the research suggests that the
concept of cultivation, with its rich historical tradition, warrants renewed
attention within digital learning paradigms.
